Over the past several months, GCG Construction has been in the process of forming a strategic partnership with Abel Construction, Inc.—a process that was officially finalized on May 1st 2025.

Abel Construction, Inc. is a fourth-generation, family-owned general contractor and construction manager with an 87-year history. Headquartered in Louisville, KY, Abel manages an annual construction volume of approximately $500 million. They currently operate offices in Louisville, Lexington, Indianapolis, Anderson (IN), and Nashville, with projects spanning the Southeastern United States. Their diverse portfolio includes Commercial, Athletics, Industrial/Manufacturing, Ecumenical, Healthcare, K–12, and Higher Education markets.

As some of you may know GCG Construction recently celebrated its 25th year in business, under the leadership of Teely and Lerin Byrd. Over the years, we have poured our passion, dedication, and values into building GCG Construction into the company it is today. What started as a vision has grown into something we are incredibly proud of: a trusted name in construction, built on integrity, craftsmanship, and strong relationships with clients and industry partners like you. This partnership marks a powerful step forward. By joining forces, we are combining our strengths, expanding our capabilities, and enhancing the value we bring to every project. Rest assured, the people, principles, and quality you have come to rely on from GCG will remain at the core of everything we do—only now with even greater resources and expertise.

We see a kindred spirit in the Abel family. William Abel founded Abel Construction in 1938, just as the nation was emerging from the Great Depression. His two sons accelerated the company’s growth starting in 1961, and today, that legacy continues under the leadership of Bill Abel, Jr.
